It was with sadness that the Parish Council learnt of the passing of Mr. Norman Lake.

Mr Lake had played a large part in the Broughton community during his lifetime. He was fundamental in the reinstatement of Broughton Cricket Club during the 1980’s to the extent that the then new Village Hall gained itself a ‘folly’, many will have heard of Norman’s Folly which started life as an aspiration for a cricket pavilion at the rear of the village hall looking out over the playing fields.

Additionally Norman was a long standing Church Warden, Clerk to the Bentham Charities and for ourselves, a Parish Councillor.
