Local walking groups

Northamptonshire Walks

Northamptonshire Walks offers a welcoming, non-discriminatory safe environment, both online & in group settings for people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities & abilities, & without judgement for the benefit of those within Northamptonshire.

It is an actual lifeline to some, & a support network to others, bringing people together & offering new connections & friendships to people who would otherwise never have met.

The online sharing of pictures on our Social Media pages enables many lesser-abled or housebound members to still enjoy the walks through others eyes, exploring new places or reminiscing over memories, passing on stories to family & friends looking through together, or members by sharing memories on the group.

Encourageing whole families to explore places they’ve never seen before &, as all the walk guidelines are free, it’s an economical way for everyone to do something together. They are also written so that everyone can follow them without having to be able to read a map. The idea is that a young child can lead the rest of the family, making it a totally inclusive activity for everyone to enjoy.

All the extra history & local information that is also given for each walk means they are both educational & interesting to all ages, usually with lots of hidden stories & facts that you would never have known otherwise.

The free group walks also offer the ability for people to get out & meet people safely, switch off from their troubles for a few hours, enjoy fresh air & exercise, visit places they would not necessarily have gone to alone, & not have to worry about anything at all.

We know this has huge benefits for people’s mental health & wellbeing, as well as their physical health.

Today, there are roughly 25 free Group Walks a month, all free, all friendly & all there to help you like walking as well. Their schedule’s published each month under the ‘Group Walks’ heading.
